The Most Romantic Gifts are Handmade

The most romantic gift I’ve ever received was from my husband about two years ago. It wasn’t for a holiday… not a birthday, Valentine’s Day or Anniversary. This gift was just because he thought I was working very hard and deserved something to make me smile. This amazing man went into his work room and physically made me something that I will have for years to come. He took a piece of wood, a sheet of blue stained glass and two glass dolphins and created a piece of art for me to keep in my office to remind me I matter to him.

On the top of the piece, he etched something into the glass. It says, “I will follow you to the end of the ocean.”

This may seem minimalistic to some, but to me it means the world. I never was the biggest fan of store-bought gifts. I feel that handmade gifts provide a bit of something extra and give you a piece of the individual that has created it for you. Every time I see that piece of art when I walk into my office, I am reminded that I am loved and appreciated. I am reminded that this person I have chosen to spend my remaining years with…. thinks of me even when I don’t know it.

It is and will forever be the most romantic and meaningful gift I have ever received. I am appreciative of the love and care I receive from my husband on a daily basis. It is because of him that I have the drive to write every day… go to work every day… strive for my college degrees and everything in-between. He is my muse and my motivation. 🧡
