Positive Affirmations: From the Mind of an Opinionated Working Mother

Sometimes, you just need a little positive humor in your life to keep going. Something that reminds you that the world is not all drama and stress-filled nonsense.

Whether we’re parents, single individuals, working or unemployed. We all need some happy, silly, interesting and accurate affirmations.

Yes, that is what we need. Just some interesting insights that remind us that we’re not alone in our struggles and irritations. That we are all connected in one way or another.

So, for all the parents, workers, writers and readers out there. I have come up with a few of these silly, yet relatable concepts of life. — My take on positive affirmations.

  1. You’re not lazy. You woke up, put something on your body, probably ate something and made your way to the couch. — Progress.

  2. Your kids aren’t devilish little aliens from space. You’ve just been spending so much time around them, and only them too long. So, when you watch TV and see the good kids, you assume all children are like that except yours. We all do it, I’m sure your kids are great.

  3. You hate your job? So do your co-workers. — There are not many who wake up in the morning and skip to the bathroom to get ready for their awesome job. If you do, that’s weird, but kudos to you.

  4. Feeling bad because you don’t drink Starbucks and eat kale? — Come sit by me my friend. I’ve got some Monster Energy, some chocolate and some fried chicken on the table.

  5. Life is hard. Yup, it is. There isn’t anyone that I have ever met that looked down on me going… “This world is so easy to deal with. The birds are chirping, the sun is out, and I love everything about life.” — Maybe if they were recently exposed to a narcotic… but that’s about it.

  6. You failed? So did I! We’re losers together! Isn’t it fabulous. I’ve been writing poetry since I was 16 and didn’t publish my first poetry book until I was 31.. Yup. I failed a whopping total of 36 times. Keep trying my friends. One day, that failure will be nothing but a memory.

  7. Hate the way you look or the way your house looks? A couple of weeks ago, so did I. I made some drastic changes, and you can too! So, what if your neighbor down the street doesn’t like flamingos, they’ll get over it. So, what if your spouse prefers someone blonde, they didn’t marry your hair. Do what makes you happy! Love yourself first.

  8. That person you follow on TikTok… she has French fries in the floor of her car just like you.

  9. Just because someone looks like they are doing financially better than you, doesn’t mean they are. Sure, your cousin may have a new car and a new home… but he is also in debt up to his eyeballs. He and his wife have to work full time jobs and side gigs to continue living above their means. Meanwhile, you may rent your home and have an older car…. but I bet you’ll be going on vacation to visit your cousin on the holiday because you can afford the trip and he can’t.

  10. Whatever you’re trying to accomplish — you can succeed. All you need to do is keep pushing, keep improving and never allow yourself to quit. Nothing comes to anyone immediately. EVERYTHING takes determination and drive.

You see now, don’t you feel better?

I know I sure do. Little things we already know just seem to be better when a complete stranger puts it in black and white. Right?

I hope I’ve helped you in some small way.

Don’t be a stranger.
