My Feminine Achilles Heel

I am not what someone would describe as “feminine”. I wear men's T-shirts and large sleep pants on a regular basis. 90% of the time I have a beanie on my head, and I can’t stand makeup.

This is a common thing for many women in the world, I’m sure.

However, I do have one feminine aspect that I adore and take the advantage to do any chance I get.

Getting my nails done.

I am a sucker for a good manicure and a cute little design. Something about the entire process makes me feel like the most beautiful person in the world.

This started when I was around 12 years old. I was going to my first dance and my mother thought it would be fun to go and get our nails done together.

My first time in a nail salon was magical. The older women working on my hands made sure to do everything I suggested, and from that point I was hooked. Every time I had the extra income… TOO THE SALON!

To answer your inner thoughts —

Yes, it does seem odd for someone with semi masculine tendencies to always have such stunning hands.

However, I feel like it gives me underlying powers that are only available through the workings of a nail tech.

Have you ever felt that way? That something so small and insignificant made you feel powerful? More powerful than anyone or anything?

If you have, isn’t it amazing? Empowering is a better word.
