Mother-Daughter Date

Yesterday my daughter and went on our monthly mother-daughter outing.

This is our time to enjoy each other’s company. I am able to learn about her friends, how she is liking school and what she’s thinking or feeling. Also, it’s her chance to ask me every question she’s ever thought about asking me throughout the month. Quite literally….

Normally on these outings, we head out for lunch, hit Walmart and grab a smoothie… but this outing was a bit different.

Derrek (the other half) and I decided that this time I would take her to the nail salon to get shellac for the first time on her nails for the holiday.

It was such a wonderful experience. She was such a mature little lady. She sat and talked to the nail tech about the holiday colors and design she had chosen. She explained how she keeps getting pink in her classes (the highest color you can get for outstanding behavior) and that I and my husband are the greatest parents ever for taking her to the ‘Nail Store’!

I was filled with emotions the entire time.

I could not believe that this amazing young lady sitting next to me, having a full conversation with a complete stranger, was my daughter. The daughter who used to watch My Little Pony for hours on end and took her sweet time saying Mama.

Tears welled up in my eyes just thinking about it.

After our nails were done, we set our sights on shopping. Rather than the regular stop…. we decided to go to Once Upon a Child to check out their 70% off clearance sale.

Had to be the best decision ever because Lillian found a pair of boots she just couldn’t live without. They were brown with little bows on them and came up her calf. When I took them from her to check the price and help her try them on, I couldn’t believe my eyes! My princess had found a pair of Michael Kors designer boots at a secondhand store for $16 IN HER SIZE!

I was jealous we were at a children’s store… if I’m being honest.

Already loving the nail salon and good deals on designer shoes. My little one is turning into a woman right before my eyes.

I love it and hate it all at the same time.

🧡Shine Bright, Kayla
