Loungewear Saves Sanity
Loose fitting t-shirts and sleep pants fill my weekly wardrobe. I don’t think I have gotten dressed up, just because, in months. I like it that way though, I rather enjoy being comfortable.

Dressing comfortably is good for the soul. No, I am not a doctor, but tell me you feel constricted or strained in your favorite oversized shirt and fuzzy pajama pants. I’ll wait. The truth is, even if you’re frustrated, stressed or angry, it’s difficult to hold on to those things while lounging in your favorite outfit underneath a big fuzzy blanket on the couch eating comfort foods. Some would call this laziness; I call it self-care. Not everything has to be pristine and perfect. No matter what you saw your neighbor post on pintrest this morning. Some days it’s good enough that you just got out of bed, your children are still smiling, and your husband hasn’t punched a hole through the wall…. yet.
This morning, I arose at 8:30 am to realize my eight-year-old had missed the bus… again. I got dressed, got in the car and rushed him to school. Next, I agreed to take my best friend to the doctor 45 minutes away from her home for an appointment. Mind you, her home is 45 minutes away from my home. So, I drive, 45 minutes to her house, 45 minutes to the hospital, 45 minutes back to her house and then 45 minutes home. Starting at 10 am and returning home at 3 pm. When I returned, my husband was awake and ready to leave to HIS doctor's appointment and all the children were playing amongst themselves. I started writing.
I explained this to shed some light on why I feel lounge attire is SO IMPORTANT. Before I began writing for you today, I got into lounge wear. I was stressed and tired from all the hustle and bustle of the day that, if I had not, I would be going insane rather than writing to you fine people. Stress can form from anything throughout your busy lifestyle. Giving yourself something that is 100% your decision helps. Even something as small as your clothing. Try it. Let me know what you think.
It’s amazing, isn’t it? What a change of clothing can do for your mental health. Maybe I should write a book. Something like; “The Clothing that Kept me Out of Prison” or “The Outfit That Changed My Mind”. I like them both. What about you? Ah… It’s a work in progress.
