Loathing The Laundry: At My Breaking Point
I am one of those people that has one household chore that I cannot stand.
For most people, it’s dishes… no one wants to stick their hand in the dirty food-filled water.
Nope, I’m fine with that. Give me a full sink of dirty dishes any day over laundry.
Yup, I LOATHE the laundry.
Every day I have more and more of it coming out of the woodwork. With a family of two adults and four children in the home, the laundry never ceases to pile up. I can be almost finished with it or completely done, and the next day have two or three loads that need done.
Either my children have cleaned their room and found the things they’ve stuffed behind their dresser or under their bed… or my husband cleaned out the car and grabbed all of the t-shirts he removes after work and just throws in the floorboards.
Regardless of how it happens… it always happens.
Because of that, I have grown to hate the laundry with the passion of a thousand suns.
Don’t get me wrong, I do it… because I like to have clean clothes, my husband needs work clothes, and it is frowned upon to send your children to school in dirty clothes… but if I had a choice…. I would never do another load of laundry as long as I live.
It’s not that it’s hard. It’s actually pretty simple. I can switch it over in the morning before work, I can fold in the afternoons while watching a TV show and just continue the process… Yet just because it’s simple… doesn’t mean it’s fun.
It’s kind of like when you start a job that is stagnant. Something you do over and over… always the same. After a while… you want to curl up into a ball and never do that thing again as long as you live.
That’s me with laundry.
Is anyone else at that point? Does everyone else have a never-ending pile of laundry that just goes overboard if you miss one day? Does it overtake your laundry room and at some points you go to do it, see the pile and go...
Nope... Not today!
If you do, we should be friends… because I feel like that on a consistent basis….
