Immediate Income Not Guaranteed

Do you ever feel like you’re doing more than you anticipated you would through your employment? Whether that is a conventional job, freelancing, contracting or your own business? You wake up going —
I’m only going to have to work this many days a week as long as I make this much per day…
Fast forward to two weeks later and you find yourself working 7 days a week almost all day long each day with very little income to show for it. It’s not just me… is it?
I know that the normal thing is to come onto your blog, website or social media account and boast about how much money you make or how little you had to do to get your income for the day. But the reality is, some of us are working tirelessly to get to that point. In the beginning — It’s not as easy as we may make it seem.
Everything you do, even passive income jobs, will take time and work. You’re not going to begin a project… work for 3 hours and start rolling in the thousands of dollars you saw that woman making on YouTube. (If you are.. kudos to you… you are the exception.)
No, sadly you’re going to be pushing every day. Updating your social media accounts with your work, creating new content and probably annoying your friends and family members with everything you’re attempting to accomplish. At least for a while.
Take me for instance, I’m not too shy to provide how I’m doing.
YouTube: I started my YouTube channel in December 2021. I post every Monday and every Friday. I go over parenting questions, how to earn income while staying home and miniscule other things. I currently have 345 subscribers and 214 watch hours. I have earned no income from this, as the requirements to start earning an income is 1000 subscribers and 4000 watch hours.
Medium: I started writing on Medium in March 2022. I have written over 300 articles on anything and everything. This platform, I started for fun. Started writing to connect with other writers and gain some insight into new writing styles. It has become my favorite part of work. A couple of months ago I was eligible to join in the Medium Partner Program. (Requirement is 100 followers and at least one published article.) I have made a total of $60 so far.
My books: So far, I have self-published three written books on Amazon.com through Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP). One is a collection of marriage and motherhood poetry, and the other is a relationship book on how to repair relationship issues rather than calling it quits. This has been doing better than some others. It’s Not Poetry: The Innermost Thoughts of a Stressed-out Housewife has gained $180, Relationships: The Good, The Bad and The Real has gained $5 and my Climbing The Broken Ladder eBook has yet to be purchased.
My Low Content Books: I create notebooks, recipes, poetry journals, Prayer journals, agendas and more through KDP as well. Sadly, due to being unable to run ads for these items, I have gained only $3 from the 60 creations as of today. If you would like to see some of the items I have created, CLICK HERE.
Amazon Affiliate: This is a platform spoken of often. Either here on Medium, YouTube or other prestigious blogs. They indicate how easy and profitable it can be to become an affiliate for certain companies. I have been doing this since December 2021 as well and also have gained no income as of today. (Many of the links connected to this article are from Amazon)
UserTesting: I started using this platform back in May and it is one of the most lucrative. So far, I have gained over $2000 in income on this platform total. What you do is go to usertesting.com and apply. They will ask you to perform a short survey to see if you are a good fit. If you are approved, you will be notified via email when surveys are available. If you get through the screening questions you will be approved to do the survey. $10 for ten minutes. They also have some offers for 30-, 60- or 90-minute surveys as well. 1 minute = $1.
QMEE: This is a website or application for android users where you can do 10-to-20-minute surveys for anywhere from .37 to $1.58 a piece. I do this quite a bit since I started at the beginning of May. I have earned over $600 on this platform. Qmee.com
I have also done some miscellaneous freelance writing that has earned me around $3500 within the past 7 months. However, as far as consistent income I’m lacking a bit.
I tell you all of this, not for you to see my struggle, but for you to see the reality and know that just because you’re not raking in $2000 monthly yet does not mean you’re doing it wrong! The goal for the information your finding is to get you to read or view it. So of course, they’re going to give the impression that there is money to be made immediately. That’s what gets your time! That’s what gets you to keep viewing, keep reading and coming back for more.
Conclusion: So far, as of July 31st I have made a total of around $3,950 since January. This means, that after 7 months I am still not where I can comfortably support my family without needing a regulatory job. 7 months, I'm still not a millionaire, but the income is growing and one day I will be able to share with you that I finally made it.
Yes, there is money to be made with self-employment and passive income. No, it’s not always going to gain you large sums of money in a short amount of time. Put in the work, don’t quit and keep your pace. You’ll get there. I’ll get there. We’ll all get there.
