Harry Potter Movie Mysteries
Anyone who loves the Harry Potter franchise will tell you that they know everything about the series, whether that’s from the books or the movies. Well, I watch the first Harry Potter movie Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone every evening before bed. Don’t ask. I have a very specific nightly routine.
Anyway, I started noticing things I had not noticed before and then started to go through the next two movies and doing the same. It was so much fun! Here’s what I found:
Harry Potter and The Sorcerer's Stone:
When Neville Longbottom gains his Remembrall from his Gran, he states that he cannot remember what he has forgotten. — Take a close look at the scene and you will see…. He has forgotten his robes.
In the scene where Harry and Ron are running late for McGonagall's class, they are unaware that Professor McGonagall is watching the class in the form of a cat. When she transfigures back into herself, watch closely. For a moment she is not wearing glasses and then when the camera changes, she is. One split moment. It’s easy to miss.
When Harry is worried about his abilities as a Quidditch player, Hermione ushers him and Ron to a trophy case to show that his father, James Potter was an award-winning seeker. What you missed was that Professor Minerva McGonagall was also an award winning Quidditch player and her award sat right next to Mr. Potters.
The Mirror of Erised shows an unreadable message at the top. That message is backwards, if it faces the mirror it reads “I show not your face but your heart’s desire.” — Crazy Right!?
Chamber of Secrets
When Harry accidently arrives in Knockturn alley, because he did not enunciate, Hagrid finds Harry and walks him to the right place… While walking, they pass a bookstore that just so happens to house the Harry Potter novels in the window.
When Harry cons Lucius Malfoy into relieving his house elf by unknowingly providing him with clothes, Lucius raises his wand and begins a spell that is accurately interrupted by Dobby’s heroic efforts. However, if you listen, you can hear that Mr. Malfoy was attempting the unforgivable curse of “Avada Kedavra” — The killing curse.
Prisoner of Azkaban
When Fred and George gave Harry the Marauder’s Map, Harry opens it to learn that it shows everyone walking about the castle. What you may have missed is that Newt Scamander was walking the Hogwarts halls that day. Yes! The same Newt Scamander from the Fantastic Beasts films!
If you look closely, when Harry is first given that map, you’ll see that the name “Moony” is spelled wrong and spelled “Mooney”.
Apparently, Arthur Weasley is not the only wizard interested in Muggle creations. If you look closely when Harry is entering the Leaky Caldron… You’ll find a wizard sitting and reading Stephen Hawking’s A Brief History of Time book.
I have always been a huge Harry Potter fan. From the first days in theaters to today! I’m sure there are other hidden things in these movies I may have missed and MASSIVE ones in the other 4 that I have not yet gone through!
