Chivalry is Not Dead

The other day I went to the store to grab a baby gate, some pull-ups, and a toddler toilet because our 2-year-old is starting potty training. As I was bringing the things out to my car a 24 pack of pop fell out of the bottom of my cart…. not a big deal…. it happens all the time, especially when the terrain is not the greatest coming out of the grocery store.
However, a wonderful elderly man saw me struggling with my cart and all these large items within it and stopped to aid me in putting them into my vehicle. I was in awe as I watched this man, who was finished with his shopping, take time out of his busy Monday morning to put things in the back of my car to assist me. On top of that he then explained after I had finished taking the last thing out of the cart to get in my vehicle so that I am no longer cold, and he would put my card away.
These things sound silly and simple, and they are, but to have someone take time out of this rush rush rush world we live in to assist me with something as simple as putting things into my car reminds me that there is life on this planet.
To the man who took the time out of his day to help a 30-year-old woman who was struggling with a full cart thank you.
And to anyone else who feels like this world is all about me and that no one is looking upon you with helpful eyes there is life on this planet. There are people who are willing to assist you if you run into struggle even if it’s something as simple as putting your groceries in your car.
Have you come in contact with someone with this amount of kindness recently? If you have, I’d love to hear about it!
