10 Silly Parenting Tips Every Busy Mom Should Be Doing

1. Get your kids involved in chores from a young age. This will teach them responsibility and help you out around the house! Dishes, laundry, sweeping and vacuuming are my favorite starters.
2. Have a bedtime routine and stick to it. This will help your kids wind down before bed and make it easier for them (and you) to get a good night's sleep.
3. Let your kids be messy. It's okay to let them get dirty sometimes – it's all part of the fun!
4. Be silly with your kids. Let them see you acting goofy once in awhile – they'll love it and it will create lasting memories.
5. Get outside and play with your kids as often as you can. Fresh air and exercise are good for everyone!
6. Encourage your kids to express their creativity. Whether it's through art, music, dance, or whatever they're interested in, let them explore their creativity.
7. Don't be afraid to discipline your kids when necessary. They need to know what behaviors are acceptable and which are not.
8. Teach your kids about healthy eating habits. Show them how to make healthy choices when it comes to food and snacks.
9. Spend quality time with your kids every day. This doesn't necessarily mean hours upon hours – even 20 minutes of focused attention can make a big difference.
10. Take care of yourself, too! As a busy mom, it's easy to forget about your own needs but it's important to remember that you need to take care of yourself, too.
Turn Routines into Games
Silly parenting tip: turn routines into games!
Kids love games, so why not make some of the mundane tasks of parenting into fun games? It's a great way to keep kids entertained and engaged, while still getting them to do what you need them to do. Here are some ideas to get you started:
1. Make a game out of getting dressed. See who can get dressed the quickest or make a contest out of who can put on their clothes without using their hands. Suggest that they choose new colors and new pairings.
2. Turn brushing teeth into a race. See who can brush their teeth the fastest, or make it into a game of seeing who can get the most toothpaste on their brush.
3. See who can eat the healthiest foods at mealtime. Count how many bites of vegetables they can take or have a contest to see who can eat the most fruits and vegetables in one sitting.
4. Make a game out of picking up toys. See who can pick up the most toys in one minute or make it into a competition to see who can put away all of their toys the quickest.
5. Transform bath time into a fun-filled activity. Play games like “splash the most water out of the tub” or “see how long you can stay in the tub without getting wet.” Our 6-year-old has fallen in love with her bath paints - we try to to make new pictures and creations every new bath day.
Parenting can be tough, but incorporating some silliness and fun into your routine will make it a lot more enjoyable for everyone involved. So next time your little one is resisting getting dressed or brushing their teeth, try turning it into a game and see how much fun they have!
Leave a Surprise Note
Silly parenting ideas are always fun, and this one is no exception! Leave a surprise note for your kids to find. It can be anything from a simple "I love you!" to a more elaborate note with instructions for a fun activity. Either way, your kids will love finding the note and it will be a nice way to start their day.
Have a Dance Party
Or, if you're planning on doing some fun activities, why not have a dance party! This is a great way to get everyone up and moving, and it's a lot of fun for the whole family.
To get started, you'll need some music. You can use any kind of music that you like, but I personally think that upbeat, lively music is the best for dancing. Once you have your music ready, it's time to start dancing! Our kids really enjoy the Disney station on the Alexa.
There are no rules when it comes to dancing, so just let loose and have fun. If you're feeling silly, you can even make up your own dance moves. The important thing is to just enjoy yourself and have a good time.
After you've been dancing for a while, take a break and have some refreshments. This is a great time to catch your breath and enjoy some quality time with your family. And then, when you're ready, you can start dancing again!
This is a great activity for rainy days, cold days, or any day when you just need to get out some energy. So next time you're feeling cooped up, put on some music and have a dance party!
Bonus Tip: Make Space for Creativity
As a parent, it's important to make sure that your child has the opportunity to be creative. This can be done in a number of different ways, but one of the best is to simply make sure that there is some space in your home that is dedicated to creativity.
It doesn't have to be a huge space, but it should be somewhere that your child can go to explore their creativity without being interrupted or feeling like they have to tidy up afterwards. It can be a corner of a room, a playroom, or even just a shelf or box where they can keep their art supplies.
What we decided to do is create a 'game room' for our kids to be themselves and express themselves. They have their televisions and video games, their beanbag chairs, books, art items (paper, crayons, markers, ect) and their dress up toys all in one place to express themselves and be kids.
Encourage your child to use their imagination and to experiment with different materials. This is a great way for them to learn about themselves and the world around them. And who knows, you might just be surprised by the incredible things they come up with!
